Never present snapshot volumes to the source production hosts unless performing an intentional, approved restore-in-place.
-
For cloning, always use new volume names and present to target hosts only.
-
Maintain write-order consistency:
-
Clone/restore all volumes that make up the ASM diskgroups (DATA/FRA/REDO, etc.)
-
If restoring in place, coordinate a controlled outage and verify application owners’ approvals.
Note: Exclude the clusterware disk group. Do the mapping above for database disk groups only. Do not resolve, list, or add the GRID / CRS / +OCR disk group's disks. Confirm the volumes you have collected back only the database disk groups (DATA, FRA, REDO, and any others holding datafiles, redo, control files, or recovery data).
