Target Audience

  • Database Administrators (DBAs)

  • Storage Administrators

  • Platform and Infrastructure Engineers

In Scope

  • Oracle RAC on Oracle Database 19c and later.

  • Database Oracle ASM disk groups — typically DATA (datafiles), FRA (Fast Recovery Area), and REDO (online redo logs). Names vary by site (for example DATA01).

  • Everpure FlashArray over iSCSI, Fibre Channel, or NVMe-oF (NVMe/TCP, NVMe/FC, NVMe/RoCE).

  • Snapshot creation using Everpure FlashArray Protection Groups.

Out of Scope

  • Filesystem-based Oracle deployments (ACFS, ext4, xfs) — covered in a separate KB.

  • Single-instance (non-RAC) databases — covered in a separate KB.

  • Application-managed snapshots (RMAN, Oracle Data Guard).

  • The Grid Infrastructure clusterware disk group that holds the OCR (Oracle Cluster Registry) and voting files — commonly named GRID, CRS, or +OCR. This disk group is never included in a database snapshot and is never quiesced as part of these procedures. It is referenced throughout as a reminder of what to exclude.
