Here are the main workflows that will be demonstrated:
- Recovering a Deleted VVol VM within 24 Hours
- Recovering a Deleted VVol VM after 24 Hours
- Recovering a Deleted VVol VM VMDK within 24 Hours
- Recovering a Deleted VVol VM VMDK after 24 Hours
- Cloning a VVol VM from a point in time snapshot
-
Importing a Virtual Volume into another VM
With each of these situations we'll see a workflow where the VM has a storage policy applied that is replicating or has local snapshots, if there are Managed Snapshots for the VM, if the VM is manually put into a FlashArray protection group, if the VM has manual snapshots and finally if there are no snapshots.
- >> The process of deleting each of the VMs was powering them off and then deleting from disk as follows: (click to expand)
-
Here the VM will be first powered off:
After the VM is powered off, it is then deleted from disk:
This same process is used for each of the VMs:
After the VM is powered off, it is then deleted from disk:
Then, from the FlashArray, we can see the Volume Groups and Volumes pending eradication:
Let's get started.
