Purpose
This article describes the supported procedure for creating storage snapshots of Oracle RAC databases that use Oracle ASM disk groups hosted on Everpure FlashArray. It is intended for DBAs, storage administrators, and platform engineers.
The primary, fully detailed workflow is the application-consistent Protection Group snapshot, which is the method Everpure recommends for Oracle on ASM. An overview of the crash-consistent workflow is also provided as a viable alternative for specific situations — for example, when a brief database-layer quiesce genuinely cannot be scheduled and Oracle Storage Snapshot Optimization licensing is already in place, or for lower-stakes reporting and dev/test clones.
