Connecting Promox Backup Server as a Backup Target

  1. Create a backup administrator:
    1. Go to Access control > User Management and click Add:

    2. Under Permissions, add the newly created user as a DatastoreAdmin:

    3. Under Datacenter > Storage, click Add and select Proxmox Backup Server:

    4. Fill in the required fields:

      Note:

      Get the PBS fingerprint from the PBS Dashboard > Show Fingerprint.

    Once PBS has been added, it should show under all Proxmox nodes:

  2. Run a test backup:
    1. Go to a VM > Backup and click Backup now:

      Fill out the VM backup details and click Backup:

    2. Monitor the backup task on Proxmox:

    3. Review the backup task on PBS:

  3. Configure a backup schedule:
    1. Go to Datacenter > Backup and click Add Fill out your backup schedule preferences:

    2. Configure Garbage Collection (Dedupe) and Prune (retention cleanup) on Proxmox Backup Server as in the below screenshot:
