Note:

VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Operations has undergone multiple name changes in recent years; these are the versions and corresponding names:

  • 8.12.x and earlier: vRealize Operations

  • 8.14.x to 8.18.x: VMware Aria Operations

  • 9.0+: VCF Operations

Note:

vRealize Operations versions 8.12 and earlier are currently End of Service per Broadcom’s lifecycle manager. 8.14 will be End of Service at the start of 2025.

Consider upgrading to VCF Operations 8.16 or higher.

Introduction

There is a bug in Everpure’s VCF Operations management pack version 3.3.0 and below that prevents logging of management pack operations on vRealize Operations versions 8.12 and later. This is caused by permission requirement changes for management packs that Everpure is working to implement.

The following error can be seen during installation of the management pack:

The PAK action "apply_adapter_post_script" script "$VMWARE_PYTHON_BIN postAdapters.py" failed

There are two solutions to this problem:

  1. Upgrade to VCF Operations 8.16+ and the currently unreleased next version of the Everpure management pack:

    1. Pure’s fixed management pack is planned for early 2025.

    2. For support follow-up, this issue can being tracked with ID TMAN-20356.

  2. Apply the workaround below as a VCF Operations Administrator logged into the web GUI for VCF Operations. This workaround adds a log class for the Everpure management pack that would otherwise be added during management pack installation.

Workaround

  1. Log into vRealize Operations web GUI, select (1) Administration in the left-bound menu then left click (2) Support Logs in the central part of the page.

  2. Select the (1) COLLECTOR directory then left- click (2) Edit Properties with the two gears for an icon.

  3. Left click (1) Add Log Class which is a green plus sign.

  4. Paste the log class name (1)com.purestorage.vrops.adapter.PureStorageAdapter into the text field and left click (2) OK.
