This topic describes how to delete a Datastore (AVS Storage Container).

Note: Before deleting a Datastore please ensure you deleted or migrated all VMs data stored on the Datastore and ensure there are no content libraries on the Datastore. Note that there is no warning message when deleting a datastore with content library.
Important: Do not delete Datastore (AVS Storage Container) via Azure Portal. This operation is not supported and needs to be performed using vSphere Plugin only.
  1. In your browser, log into the vSphere Client using your preferred connection method.

  2. Go to the Inventories tab and click on Storage.
  3. From the list of available datastores under SDDC-Datacenter object right click on the datastore name you would like to delete.
  4. Find the Everpure section in the context menu and click on Destroy Datastore.

  5. Confirm the destroy operation by clicking on the Destroy button.

At this point, all data stored on this Datastore is deleted except snapshots and metadata. The Datastore is marked as soft deleted . In soft delete state, the datastore is no more visible in vSphere UI but the corresponding Storage Container is still visible on the Azure Portal and system waits for 3 days until all underlying resources are completely removed.

After 3 days of timeout, snapshots and metadata will be automatically eradicated and corresponding Storage Container and underlying Azure resources will be removed. If you would like to force delete the Storage Container and associated snapshots before the 3 days period will timeout, please follow this section.
