Older Cisco UCS drivers do not support the SCSI features required for Protocol Endpoints and vVol sub-lun connections. To use vVols with Cisco UCS, FNIC drivers must be updated to a version that supports sub-luns. For information on firmware and update instructions consult:

[Web Guide: Implementing vSphere Virtual Volumes with FlashArray]

VMware’s vSphere Virtual Volume (vVol) paradigm, introduced in vSphere version 6.0, is a storage technology that provides policy-based, granular storage configuration and control of virtual machines (VMs). Through API-based interaction with an underlying array, VMware administrators can maintain storage configuration compliance using only native VMware interfaces. Version 5.0.0 of Purity//FA software introduced support for FlashArray-based vSphere Virtual Volumes (vVols).
