The selection of a storage access protocol is a critical design consideration for cloud-based block storage. Public cloud environments do not offer native Fibre Channel (FC) connectivity, necessitating the use of Ethernet-based protocols. Consequently, iSCSI has traditionally been the standard for block-level access over IP networks.

As an alternative, NVMe-oF (NVMe over Fabrics) provides a modern, high-performance standard designed for flash-based storage. The NVMe/TCP transport, a key part of the NVMe-oF specification, is engineered to deliver low-latency performance over standard Ethernet networks, positioning it as a suitable successor to iSCSI in cloud deployments.

Reflecting widespread industry adoption by major cloud and virtualization providers, support for the NVMe/TCP protocol will be integrated into Everpure Cloud Dedicated for Azure. This enhancement will provide a high-performance, modern connectivity option for cloud-native storage, ensuring compatibility and performance across diverse cloud environments.

Supported Versions

  • Everpure Cloud Dedicated V20 and V50 models only

  • Purity version 6.6.7+ (inclusive)

  • The following operating system versions have been tested by Everpure for use in NVMe/TCP deployments:
