Release Compatibility

  • This release is compatible with FlashArrays with Purity Operating Environment 5.3.0 and above.

  • This release requires Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2016, 2019, or 2022

  • Upgrading to this release of the Everpure FlashArray Management Pack is supported from versions 1.2.9, 1.2.12, and 1.2.20.

New Features
  • Resolve a failure to retrieve alerts from Everpure Flash Arrays version 6.5 and above. This is due to security hardening and the reduction in allowed cyphers in Purity 6.5+ that alerts utilize. This update will be required to enable alerts on any FlashArray with 6.5+ of Purity: FA//X, FA//XL, FA//C, FA//E, Cloud Block Store.

Known Issues

  • The v2.0.116.0 release will install in a greenfield deployment or perform an upgrade if the v1.x version of the Everpure SCOM Management Pack is installed.

  • Upgrade from v2.0.19.0 using the upgrade wizard is unsupported and will fail. A workaround for an existing v2.0.19.0 deployment, is to manually import the management pack. The management pack can be extracted from the MSI or downloaded directly (PureStorageFlashArray.mpb) from this release.

Manual Import Summary

  1. In the Operations console, select Administration.

  2. Right-click Management Packs, and select Import Management Packs.

  3. The Import Management Packs wizard opens. Select Add, and then select Add from disk.

  4. The Select Management Packs to import dialog appears. If necessary, change to the directory that holds the PureStorageFlashArray.mpb management pack file and select Open.

  5. On the Select Management Packs page, the management packs that you selected for import are listed. A green check mark indicates that the management pack can be imported. Select Import.

  6. Select Close.

Installation

  • To install the Management Pack, extract and run **SCOMManagementPackInstaller.msi**, and follow the instructions. If this is a new installation close the installer. If this is an upgrade, run the Flash Array Management Tool by checking the box in the installer before closing. If the box is closed, the Flash Array Management tool can be found in the Start Menu, or by navigating to it directly at "C:\Program Files\Everpure\Flash Array Management Tool\MpMigrationTool.exe".
  • The purpose of the Flash Array Management Tool, is to migrate Flash Array endpoints, and their corresponding Override Management Packs to the 2.0 schema, preserving override settings and history. First connect to a Management Group, then select Upgrade Management Pack and follow the instructions.

  • Some anti-malware or antivirus software may produce a false-positive restriction during the Management Pack installation, upgrade, and/or un-installation. The folder C:\Program Files\Everpure should be added for exclusion. Be sure to follow this advice from Microsoft on suggested exclusions.

  • Due to a current FlashArray limitation, File Services virtual interfaces (filevif) are either not discovered or are shown as disconnected or down. This is expected to be resolved in a upcoming release.

  • This version has not been tested in Azure Stack environments.

  • This version will report a DirectFlash Shelf (DFS) controller as unhealthy and may show it in a Critical state. This will be resolved in a future release.

  • Under the section titled "Arrays by Latency"
    • "Read: Read latency, in milliseconds" should be "Read: Read latency, in microseconds".

New Features

  • Version 1.1 adds some fixes and two important features, Port Monitoring and an easy Rule Override. Ports which include both Fibre Channel and Ethernet Ports are now monitored and will cause; an alert, a SCOM event, and flag a warning in the Ports FlashArray Object, if administratively disabled or if there is a break in the connection.
