With FlashArray, there is the ability to create snapshots whether you are using disks directly with a VM using the vHBA or more traditional storage for a VM. While snapshots are not backups, they can be used for a variety of reasons, including part of a recovery strategy, protection against ransomware, seed AGs, and more. A basic snapshot is displayed.

SafeMode snapshots add additional protection against serious security challenges like ransomware attacks. SafeMode snapshots are immutable and ineradicable, meaning they are unchangeable and locked once taken. An Eradication Timer value sets a timeframe these snapshots cannot be altered and improve the safety of such critical data.

As displayed below, SafeMode prevents the destruction of a snapshot.

FlashArray can take periodic snapshots of a single volume or multiple volumes, also known as a Protection-Group, to provide a nearly instantaneous recovery point. If an event of any kind means you must recover data – and fast, you can quickly roll one or more volumes backwards. An example of a Protection Group is shown.
