The requirements for Failover Clustering include ensuring that each node in the cluster has an identical or similar physical server buildout. Storage for the VMs should be NTFS configured as a cluster shared volume (CSV).

An alternative to a local CSV on a Hyper-V cluster is to configure a Scale out File Server cluster that is directly connected to the FlashArray. Then configure the Hyper-V clusters to connect to the Scale out File Server over SMB and host the VMs on the SMB share. This can be advantageous on fast networks that support SMB Direct, and SMB Multichannel because there are fewer servers that need direct access to the storage which could reduce storage fabric costs and lower the number of servers to manage at the storage level.

The requirements for nested Hyper-V, where a VM has installed the Hyper-V role and that VM hosts its own VMs, is explained in Run Hyper-V in a Virtual Machine with Nested Virtualization.
